- general who was Oliver North's chief intermediary in selling
- weapons to Iran and diverting the profits to the contras; on
- nine counts of lying to and obstructing congressional
- investigating committees; in Washington. Each charge upon
- conviction carries a maximum sentence of five years'
- imprisonment and $250,000 in fines. Secord was convicted in a
- Virginia court of drunk driving. He was given a suspended 30-day
- jail sentence and ordered to pay a $200 fine.
